L-4 Auto Splicing Machine Demonstrates Splicing, Vision and LCR Verification Capabilities for Schneider Philippines

Following Schneider Philippines' request, Youngpool Technology conducted an on-site DEMO of the L-4 Auto Splicing Machine to evaluate its performance and suitability for the customer's SMT production requirements.


The demonstration focused not only on the machine's automatic splicing capability but also on its integrated vision inspection and LCR verification functions, which provide additional layers of process control and error prevention.


Successful Tape Detection and Splicing

During the DEMO, the L-4 successfully detected tape types, 8 mm tape pitch, component sizes, and empty materials on both paper and embossed tapes.


The machine also successfully performed splicing on the tested 8 mm tapes, demonstrating consistent and reliable splicing performance.


The evaluation achieved a reported 98.77% first-pass yield, demonstrating the machine's ability to maintain consistent process performance during the trial.


Vision and LCR Verification

One of the key features demonstrated during the DEMO was the integration of vision-based inspection and LCR verification into the splicing process.


The vision system supports accurate tape detection, positioning, and alignment during splicing, while the LCR function provides capacitance and resistance verification for applicable components.


The LCR function was successfully tested on component sizes ranging from 01005 to 1206, with a reported test cycle time of approximately 21 seconds.


This integrated verification capability can provide an additional quality check during the reel changeover process, reducing the need for separate manual verification steps.


Built-In Error-Proofing

Beyond automatic splicing, the L-4 incorporates several error-proofing functions designed to help prevent operator mistakes.


The demonstrated system includes features such as:

● Automatic scanning

● BOM interlock

● Vision alignment checks

● LCR value verification

● Forced operation sequence

● Automatic traceability


By combining these functions with automated splicing, the L-4 provides a more controlled and standardized process compared with conventional manual splicing.


Positive Operator Feedback

According to operator feedback during the evaluation, the machine was easy to operate, provided consistent and reliable splicing quality, and demonstrated stable performance.


The built-in error-proofing functions also helped reduce the possibility of operator mistakes. The integrated LCR checking further eliminated the need to send materials to a separate repair area for LCR verification.


A Complete Automated Splicing Solution

The successful DEMO gave Schneider Philippines an opportunity to evaluate the L-4 under practical application conditions.


The results demonstrated the machine's capabilities in automatic tape splicing, vision-based detection and alignment, LCR verification, tape and component detection, and error-proofing.


By integrating these functions into a single system, the L-4 Auto Splicing Machine provides more than just automatic splicing—it offers a comprehensive approach to improving SMT production efficiency, process consistency, quality control, and operator error prevention.
